Tragic Home Invasion in Jajpur: Elderly Woman Killed, Daughter Injured

Violent Robbery in Jajpur District

In a shocking incident in Jajpur district, Odisha, an elderly woman lost her life, and her daughter sustained serious injuries during a robbery attempt at their home. The attack occurred late Friday night in Tigiria village, as reported by local authorities.

The victim has been identified as 77-year-old Kausalya Pati, while her daughter, 55-year-old Mamata Pati, who works as an ASHA worker, is currently receiving medical care at the Badachana Community Health Centre after suffering critical injuries.

According to police, Kausalya and her daughter were asleep when two unidentified assailants broke into their residence. Upon hearing noises, the women woke up and attempted to defend themselves.

The intruders responded violently, attacking them with a sharp weapon. Kausalya succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while Mamata was left severely wounded.

Neighbors, alerted by the disturbance, rushed to assist and transported the victims to the health center, where Kausalya was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The Balichandrapur police have initiated an investigation and have detained two suspects for questioning.
